City of Shelly Utilities

Application

The City of Shelly Public Works Department provides the electric, water, sewer and garbage services for the residents of Shelly.  All customers must fill out a New Customer Form to obtain utility services.

Deposit

All customers are required to pay a $275.00 electrical meter deposit and a $50.00 water meter deposit upon the request for utility services. The City of Shelly reserves the right to require chronically delinquent customers to provide a higher meter deposit.

Due Date

Electrical/Water meters will be read on or about the 29th of each month. Bills will be calculated and mailed out on the first day of each month. All bills for services and utilities are due by the 15th day of the month after which they are subject to a 5% penalty.

Disconnection

Utility bills are considered delinquent on the 16th of the month and will receive a notice of disconnection. The 5th of the following month any account with an outstanding/past due amount will have services disconnected.  If service is disconnected, there will be a $100.00 electrical reconnection fee and a $50.00 water reconnection fee due. Services will be restored only when the outstanding balance is paid in full and reconnection fees paid. The city will only accept cash or credit card payment to restore utility services.

Fees

A 5% penalty will be added on to each service if not paid in full by the 15th of each month. 

Service disconnections or interruptions will take place if utility bill is not paid in full by the 5th of the following month.  

Garbage

The City of Shelly contracts with Fuchs Sanitation for garbage service. Garbage is picked up early Monday mornings. Place your garbage in bags or containers on the boulevard. Check the holiday trash schedule here!

 

Water Report

Each year, the Minnesota Department of Health issues a report on the City of Shelly's drinking water called the Consumer Confidence Report.  The report includes information and test results gathered for Shelly's water.  These reports are available for download below.
